if youve got a good set of feeler gauges, the rave cd, decent socket set and torque wrench shes a DIY.... order the parts you need and have a go. That doesnt cover the guts of the center diff tho. What exactly is wrong with it?

in both ranges? sounds like the input gear to me.. theres an easy way to check this..

on the back of the tcase there will be a pto outlet plate, remove this and see whats happening. theres a couple of threads on this elsewhere on the site but have a mate crank the engine over in gear while you look at whats happening there that'll give us a starting point.. If the output gear turns properly and isnt damaged odds are its the idler gear shaft or bearing. If thats the case then its a really really simple fix.

Its not ment to be suck eggs but for fault finding whats the results to the following questions..

Do the linkages to the tcase move and do they rotate/shift what they are ment to?
Does engaging the difflock make any differences?
Does it make any grinding or clicking noises?
If youve checked the oil what metal bits came out with it? big chunks or little filings?
If you jack the front wheel up with the parkbrake on and the tcase and gear box in gear can you turn the front propshaft?

if push comes to shove, if you get all the bits out but cant get em back in...

take some pics of whats damaged when you have it apart and that will give us (aulroians in general) and idea of what you should be looking at for repairs..

if thats no help, since my stay has been extended due to green administrational snafus (but I get more free money and the wife gets a free trip to brissy) if you get to wodonga with it I'm happy to help out rebuilding it if you have all the parts in advance.
