well it meets AS/NZS 2108.1:97 Engine Coolant type A, and is siutable for all late model Commodores, Falcons,Mazdas, MAN, Volvo, Cummins, BMW, Mercs, Caterpillar, Renault, Volkswagon, Toyota, Mitsu, Honda, Diahatsu, Komatsu, Detroit, Isuzu, Mack, Freightliner, John Deere, Hyundia, and Subaru, but it dont say Landrover, so I'm still in the dark.:mad: Thats all it says on the bottle.
I bought some Nulon stuff today from supercheap. while i was there I had a look at their chart for how much is required for each vehicle. I see defenders and discos listed but nothing alse for landrover. I would think that if they list it then it would be OK to use it otherwise they would be up to their ears in civil writs from people with buenggered engines. Plus, I went and saw a mate and his defender handbook says Havoline or Texaco but anyothers as long as they are ethyl glycol based, no methanol and have OAT. Nulon seems to fit that bill.
Should be ok.. Ensure OAT and Ensure a complete flush of ALL the original coolant in the entire system.
Failure to do so will cause mixing issues and most likely accelerate cooling system damage rather than prevent it.
too true, the destructions on the bottle are fairly clear, even for a mechanical dummy like me, even stresses that the heater be turned on to make sure all the fluids from that line are bled.
Q: It says a 50/50 mix but if you mix it a bit stronger or weaker will that hurt??
Okay - the Nulon stuff from SuperCheap gets a vote? Am I cleared to use that with a good flush?
(I was advised to empty, fill with tap water, drive for a day with running the heater for at least 5 minutes, repeat for a second day, empty then re-fill. Is this overkill?)

stronger is better than weaker as weaker will cause distribution problems... I dont remember the exact logic but its something to do with the strength of the "film" that coats the engine parts. It gets holes in it or something like that and all the corrosion that would have happened all over the engine happens in one spot only.
It was explained to me along the lines of using a magnifying glass to concentrate the suns rays.. Normal exposure isnt too bad but if it all gets concentrated in one or 2 areas....
