Entering Security code on Eurovox radio in D2

One of the other Disco owners in town called in this morning. He's trying to enter the security code into his 2001 Disco's LR radio. The unit is a double DIN size LR badged Eurovox Radio/Cassette. It has 6 buttons along the bottom, the from left to right are arrows up/down, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, play, pause.
The unit displays CODE 1 and some how you enter the 4 digits. If you get it wrong it shows CODE 2, then CODE 3 then ---- ---- and you are locked out of the radio for about 1 hour.
Unfortunately neither of us has the correct instructions for putting the 4 digit number in.

Thanks, but we tried this and it didn't work

It appears that there is possibly one key for entering the digits and one for accepting each digit.

    Hi dm
I dont have the origanal rock box but still bave the book of words.
*swich on "Code" appears.Press preset button 1
*Press either the up or down tuning button until the first digit of the security code appears in the display.Press pre-set1 to store the first digit.(Repeat this process for the next 3 digits)
*A two tone beep indicates a correct code entered and radio will operate.
If incorrect "wait" appears,do not switch off, code will reappear then you try again.
    Sounds simple enough,goodluck

Thanks Andrew, I knew someone would have the book. I've got a D2a so it didn't come with the same Audio books.

I'll get onto John in the morning and give it a go.

All works, it turns out the unit had been replaced and therefore we had the wrong code. The code we had was for the original unit which LR still though was the one in the vehicle, this one must have come from a wreck. Used car ... typical!

It the was a simple matter of using the preset keys to get the number in.

    Thanks for the advice.

Are you sorted for the radio code now ?
If not, PM me the 10 digit serial number.

Yep thanks for the offer though Scott. Owner had already check code with a dealer but the unit wasn't the original and LR had never been told about it. Luckily there was another very worn card in with his papers for the car and we tried that code just in case and it worked.

By the way key is now all programmed, cut and working! Thanks again for your help.

How do you generate those codes? I Have a 7479b out of a BMW and i will need a code because the dealer replaced it because "it didn't work?". I will pm the serial to Scouse.

Code entry for Eurovox model 5780R

I came across this while searching on how to enter the security code on my radio. It appears that here are several different radios used which have different entry requirements. The display above matches the radio Model 5780R with CD-stacker as fitted to my 99 D2 ES V8.

To enter the code, at the Code 1 prompt, key in the 4 digit code using the numbers as displayed on the station preset keys. Do not press any other key. If you have successfully entered the correct code, then the radio will active immediately.

If you have entered the incorrect code then it will display Code 2 (your second chance at entering the correct code, not the second possition as I had assumed...). If you stuff it up a second time it will then display Code 3. After that it will display ---- ---- and will lock you out for 1 hour. The 1 hour lock out is with the radio turned on, i.e. locking your car and walking away for 1 hour does not count. Leave you key in position 1 (or 2) and wait for the Code 1 to be displayed again to have another go...

I discovered this after I replaced 5 blown globes in the radio, still have 3 more globes to replace once it buy some more...

(Clock globe = Fixed, Air-con globes= Fixed, Radio globes=5 done 3 to go)

    Ron
