Hi Team
The next bit in my rebuild is a new dash - I'm starting from a blank sheet and have most of my ideas sorted out. The problem I have is that the aircon on the county is not the best bit of kit and I want to replace it with some of the guts of a later model Defender. I assumed that I could reuse the radiator bizzo with the two fans (condenser I guess) and the compressor and just take the guts out of the Defender incab components. I've opened up the incab unit and all it contains is the blower motor the aircon heat exchanger and cables to the fan switch and the aircon rheostat.
What I don't understand is how I get hot air as there are no inputs for the heater hoses. The County had the aircon and the heater all in one mad lump. Can anyone enlighten me.
Is there a better alternative to the Defender unit?

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Give John at All Four x4 spares Kotara a call, that is where I brought my heater box. It would probably be easier just to get a second hand heater box from a defender.
The early heater box has a copper heater core, later an alloy core which is slightly taller but both easily fit up to the firewall.
I have the Isuzu so have the copper core to match the main radiator.
You can then run pull cables from the instrument cowling to operate the heater box controls.
You can then bolt up a defender a/c unit up under the dash.
Have a look at the thread a/c in 4bd1 for some information.
Where are you located?
