    Canopy for 130 Defender

I am currently trying to identify if there are any options to the hard canopies supplied by ARB for the vehicle. Last weekend, I saw a RACQ 130 with a new style of hard canopy (Looked like a factory option - not one off) but was going a 100km in the other direction.

Any members able to list different manufactures for the 130 tub.

Also has anyone fitted a more comfortable rear bench seat or suggest a possible fit.

    Cheers

TJM has a canopy out the front of their Cabulture shop that looks like a box enough to suit a fridge like the 130. By the look of most 130's around they are either hand crafted wonders or bodgy handy man throw togeathers.

May be the 130 owners could post some pictures of there canopies and where they got them from to point you in the right direction. As I said some look like brilliant bits of kit.

There's a 130 around the corner from me in Rozelle that has a good looking canopy on. I'll take a pic over the next couple of days and put it up. Might be a Challenge canopy.

    I also have a TJM

Mine is a TJM on the 130.

But has sliding side windows. And sliding front window. Single central handle on rear glass upper tailgate.

After 9 years the thing leaks like a sieve- perfect for a LR.

The front is ugly though. Big inside. very tall.

I believe TJM still supports them.
If in Sydney there is a place in Auburn on Parramatta road who deals in only canopies and has many s/hand ones worth a call?

Mine is a tjm one too (i think) but it has gas strut windows on the sides and rear, and a sliding one on the front. Doesn't leak and is all round a good unit. However if i were to buy a new one i would get something that was compatable with a roof rack.

Ours was made by some mob in Melbourne (I think), trying to find a pic of it but I don't seem to have any on hand. Can get one for you if you want.

Has a big window/flap on all three sides, all have gas struts, side windows slide open, have mesh over them (think the last owner had a dog that hung its head out).

We have pretty much replaced all the glass with perspex now but other than that it doesn't leak so it's pretty good.

Generally when camping we sleep in the back so the ceiling is lined with a carpet like material to limit the condensation.

I used to work for a mob called Lowline in Mountain Hwy the Basin, just near Hiline.

We made a few 130 canopies with a steel frame clad with aluminium sheet.

The good thing about the Lowine canopies is the internal frame can support a roofrack or roof bars and come with any combination of side doors etc.

I cant remember the phone number off hand I think it had 3066 at the end of it but I cant remember the prefix but it shouldn't be hard to find.

They make racks as well as fibre glass canopies for more common utes and they also hire and sell caravans so if you go up there dont be thrown off be the vans out the front.

I didn't like the job there to much but the product is excellent and I think is the strongest canopy around.
