    D1 Fuel Pump

    Hi all,
Well my fuel pump has given up the ghost.
When sourcing a replacement, I thought that I might have better luck if I knew of any other models that were fitted with the same one?
I thought perhaps 90's Range Rovers or D2's may have the same pump?

Other than that it will be a new one as the prob is electrical I am sure, the motor just doesn't any more!

    Advice?
    Ralph

I have never seen a D1 fuel pump in person but I had success in fixing my cousin's 2003 V6 Rodeo fuel pump. I had a thread in Chit Chat about it. Basically it couldn't keep the pressure up and then stopped pumping at all. So I pulled it out and stripped it down which was a bit of an effort since it was never meant to come apart. I even stripped down the electric motor itself. Once I had done that I couldn't see why it wouldn't run. The brushes were a little worn but nothing that would stop it. So I reassembled the motor enough to run it and it ran fine. So after a bit more testing I reassembled the pump and fitted it and the car runs fine to this day. That was only about 1 month ago but it would have done a few thousand kms since then.

His had 100000kms on it and Holden said that was a good run for that particular pump. Which is pretty dodgy considering it was an $800 genuine only part.
I considered using a much cheaper inline pump but it didn't come to that.

So the moral of the story is if it is indeed buggered then you have nothing to lose by stripping the pump down.

What is a D1 V8 pump worth new anyway? Aftermarket available?

IFAIK a Commodore VN pump will fit with the wires reversed.
Have not done it myself but there were some DIYs on this or another forum some time ago..
A while back someone was advertising on Ebay and listed Ford Transit as the other application for a 3.9 pump.
