I have the Eurovox ten stacker player under the driver's seat. Every couple of months another slot stops working ( now down to 6 ). Eventually its going to pack up, I know it.

I have an adaptor that goes into the cassete drive, and I can plug an MP3 player/ipod into that. If the CD stacker packs up I will be going MP3 solely.

I have a similar problem with our D1's ten stacker. Stupid place to put it under the seat on a vehicle that spends part of its life crossing water and flooding the cab.

I have found a place in brisbane who still have the same units for $300. I assume it is the same as the D2. But this is the choice new CD stacker mated to the 10 year old head unit or a new head unit with CD MP3 and IPod connection.

The old unit was so good it never skipped and even the sound mob said they were one of the best units ever built and that why they weren't changed since the 90's

    I
They put the Defender TD5's ECU under the seat. Bad enough having the CD change flooded but how about the engine management computer ! But I suppose the Deffy is a bit higher then a Disco.

Cd's, CD players and off road is not a great mix.

I just purchased a PDA, that has a built in GPS ( Tom Tom and I installed oz explorer GPS software to use hema maps as well ) It also can play WMA's and MPS'3 and I can transmit the music on a frequency that my radio picks up.

So I have killed 3 birds with one stone. I don't have to worry about storing and scratching CD's etc

Never had a disc skip, even hit a corrugation hard enough to turn the hassards on. Just lucky I suppose

I am interested in the PDA thingy. I was looking at a phone type one a JB but some one else said they did not have the clarity of a GPS unit.

So is it better to put the money into a PDA and gain a GPS and the other gear rather than the cd stacker? How much are they worth? Is it hard to put your Cd's into MP3 format?

Being an IT professional, I bought I went the PDA option because then I could also claim it tax wise.

It has wireless internet, blue tooth, built in GPS receiver with Tom Tom maps and functionality, MP3/WMA player and I have got 6 GB of storage.

As I said I have loaded exlporer GPS software and HEMA maps as well

All up it cost me $700

Mine has an Alpine cassete head unit with a 6 stacker under the pass front seat.
Its very good as far as skips go.Gravel roads no probs at all.Speedhumps are the worst triggers for a skip!!!
Pitty the original speakers cant handle the 4x45w output when I crank Pink Floyd or AC/DC up.
