From what I understand, it can 'confuse', interupt, stop, some signals, pulses, or whatever getting to where they need to go. Numerous different faults have been contributed to the oil problem, running rough, not starting, bad idle etc.,

    Hi Defender 1st
Mine had the following faults recorded.
Coolant temp hi(cooling fan runs all the time)
    Low coolant level
    Boost sensor out of range
    Manifold pressure out of range
    Airflow sensor
    sensor failure
Mine is a manual,it made the thing almost undriveable in city traffic, had to slip the clutch to get it going and hold it flat.Lots black smoke,BAD economy.
Its very common for the "fly by wire" accelerator to fail with the oil in the ECU,it WILL stop the car.Cleaning the ECU and a restart should get it going again.
    Everything is now pretty good.

Do you clean it out with WD40? CAn you just unplug them and plug them back in and continue, or do you have to reset them?? (please dont laugh, i'm still onto my first LR, and still trying to get a grip on the electrical thingys)

    cheers geck

Don't clean it with WD40, that is another lubricant.

Disconnect the plugs, clean with metho sprit, replace the injector loom, then repeat when it happens again

If you have errors codes in the ecu you have to get them cleared by a LR agent or someone who has a test book.
