Thread: Rangie rear diff guard

Since the cover has to be repaired, there is an alternative, which IMHO is better than diff guards.

Get an 8" nominal bore, butt weld pipe cap, from One Steel outlets or other pipe suppliers. Weld the pipe cap to the diff housing in place of the damaged cover. Don't forget to add the socket for the filler plug to the new cover.

I am just doing a run of 20 diff guards which also incorporate a slider. I will see if it fits on the back of mine with the maxi drive

What thickness is the plate?

10mm front plate, 8mm slider.

The front guard as is wont do the job on the back. Maybe in the future if demand is good I may knock out a batch of rears. I try to do a min of 20 as its the only way to make them affordable.


Steve $165 inc gst. I didn't copy the QT guard, its more a hybid of the Cooper unit and an old guard I used to make.

Looks tough but too bulky IMO i made up a diff guard for the rear of cal415's d2 when the maxi went in and i welded it on and its as tough as nails and non bulky have pics some were maby cal can post sum the local crew called it the steel undies diff guard
