    defender dash wiring

    hey guys

what the easiest way to get power supply and other wires from the fuse to the top of the dash/ash tray via the panel where the cig lighter is

i have purchase a Mud Pod which needs a power supply plus ather wires, i also want a permanant power supply to the panel where the cig lighter is as well, the kids hate how the dvd player turns off each time i have to start the rig

i had a quick look in the fuse panel and pulled the cig lighter panel off, it all looks pretty tight

if you have the same dash as me(03) you can get from the fuse box to the centre panel(cig lighter) by a space above the fuse box, but you will have to pull the dash out to do it.

The easiest way is to run the wires up the front of the dash.

We just did a wiring job on ours and it wasn't fun, worst part was passing the antenna wire through into the bonnet behind the dash.

Generally managed to pull things through by passing twine through...attaching it to the cable/s and pulling it back up around the various obsticles!

But...we did tackle that job about 4 weeks ago and i have to admit the final wiring on the cig lighter is still not finished and there are wires still hanging out.

I only blew one fuse in the process, the light show was spectacular but the other half wasn't too impressed

Actually I replaced the stereo in mine and managed to get all the wires through to the fuse box without too much difficulty. A bit fiddly but not that hard.

Maybe if you take the stereo unit out?

Get a meter long cable tie and thread it up the channel behind the fuse box up to the radio area. It's easier if you also pull the top of the dash off. Tape wires to it and gently pull. I got my iPod connection through that way back to the centre cubby.

    Bloody Fender Dash Wiring

    Kelvin

I've got the same issue with Princess Fiona. I want to mount my electric brake controller somewhere near the Ashtray opening. It appears that the cigarette lighter socket is US and I'm about to throw out the LR casette radio to replace with a DVD/Radio/reversing camera etc

When you work it out let me know.

    Cheers

Oh dear, the things kids have to put up with nowadays

I hope somebody helps Weeds out quickly otherwise I will feel compelled to report him to Family Services.

ps. I do actually know what theyre on about. When I start my car the iPod/FM transmitter switches down and I have to restart it.
