I replaced my 3-bolt box in my County with a 4-bolt. Had a mechanic do the work but believe it was a simple swap.

Re the seal, didn't I hear somewhere that you could undo whatever retains it and start the vehicle, turn the wheel and let the ps pump blow it out of the steering box ? Messy yes, but might be fast. Any truth to that story ?

Hey Pat, do you have the name of company you bought your box from. I will have to replace the box on my project Rangie. I swap over reco box is about $600 so if I can get a new one for those $$$ it would be better.

I am just finishing (ran short of fluid at 5pm and had to rush down to the village to get some more as they shut at 5.30, so have to finish bleeding tomorrow) fitting a new box - $850 on special at Penrith from All four x 4 spares in Newcastle. The old box was leaking from both the pitman shaft and the input shaft. I will have a look at repairing it, although it will probably be another ten years before I need to replace it, judging on how long the last one lasted.

If you got that box from All4x4 for that price it shows the mark-up as they have them in the shop for $1200.Walker Island 4x4 is were I got mine.I tried repairing mine but the hard facing was chipped on the shaft so it was a throwaway. Pat
