You must be thinking of some other Rochester carburettor. The Quadrajet has a relatively small centrally located bowl which has given few problems with regard to angles of inclination and has been used very successfully in off-road racing. In cases of very severe angularity there are a couple of simple modifications which can be made. (1) fit the plastic float bowl insert, a standard Rochester part, and (2) according to application, either extend the vents by a 1/2", or put a 45 degree angle on the rear vent.

The following publication is very comprehensive and has sections covering preparation for various motor sports.
Rochester Carburetors and Emission Controls, Roe, D. & Fisher, B. H.P. Books, ISBN No. 0-912656-10-7

The bowl inserts were fitted as an anti-pollution measure, and, yes, they do help a lot on slopes!!!! ........BUT,.....

.........from memory the "big/new" 2bbls had internal [bowl to throat] vents and I really can't remember re. the late model 4 bbls........and both could spill over/splash over and cause over-richness/flooding
