Question Converting LWB 11A into soft top

Does anyone know if this can be done/how hard it is to convert a LWB hard top to a soft top?

Any ideas on where I could get hold of a soft top?

    Thanks

It is very easy if you have the parts. You will have to track down the support rods and the cab frame or engineer your own. Keep your eyes peeled for a canvas tilt they do come up ever now and then. New ones are very exxy but ive noticed a lot seling on e-bay UK for about $150 AUS add about another $100 postage and youve got a cheap tilt. Do you have a tailgate or a safari door? You will need the tie down hooks aswel on the rear of you tub and at the front corners just behind the doors.

Converting one is easy. You need the hoops and fastenings to hold the hoops down, a rope rail for along the top of the windscreen, the rails for around the doors (top and sides on both sides) and the canopy.

BUT, I don't know of anywhere in australia that sells new canopies. You can get them from the UK, but they are expensive, but in my opinion, worth it.

Heres a before and after of my old girl.

If you need clarification of what is needed a mob called 4wd in Victoria have a website with a downloadable pdf file of series parts including a blow out picture of the frames. Search back through this site using canvas as a key word and youll find a lot of info aswell.

Yes, it can be done. It is relatively easy, about half a day with hand tools if you have the parts. You need the rail along the top of the windscreen, the top door frame, the back door frame and the three hoops plus longitudinal members and fixing hardware, plus the top. If the 2a is legally required to have, or you plan on having, seat belts, there will be more work involved as the top anchorage is on the hardtop.

G'day All, I did see a canvas tilt on ebay last night in Oz, can't remember though whether it was an 88 or a 109, but I suppose if you chasing one you will find it in Land Rover spare parts section of ebay motors cheers Dennis
