    Is there an alternate and cheaper alternator for a Discovery 11?

    mr are usally very competitive with them on alternators, or were when i was looking...

    does your alternator have the regulator bolted on the back of it with a couple of screws......
    a black thing that the wires clip on to.....?


    these contain the brushes which wear out and stop making contact......
    they are usually under $40 to buy......


    if yours has this on the back and you are changing it simply cos it doesnt charge any more.....
    disconnect the battery and remove the regulator and have a look to see if the brushes are worn.....


    this could be all the problem is.....check it first......
