    Weird Problem

    G'Day,
The neighbour has a 82 Classic RR and the other day a wire fell off his starter motor and burnt itself onto the exhaust. Now the car wont turn off with the key, BUT!! if you turn the key off all the dash lights come on and when the brake pedal is pressed the car will turn off......weird huh?
Has anyone else had this happen. I think he said the wire was brown with a yellow stripe and there was a wire of the same color on the back of the alternator. If the same color wire is taken off the alternator the car will turn off at the key, but the alternator wont charge??????? Any thoughts ?

Haven't had this happen but there was a post elsewhere about crossing the rear fog lights with the rear brake lights - to get more brake lights and the the same effect can be achieved and the headlight come on when you push the brake pedal if the fog light switch is on etc.....

I'm sure who ever designed all this had a plan

Yep, they had a plan alright. Just not a well thought out one is all.
So, if you paint your headlights red, oncoming traffic will know you are stopping as well?

I think we solved this problem in a thread called wiring problems. Basically, we decided it is probably better to raise up the loom and put a new Rangie under it. I think.

    Shorty.
