    200tdi special tool

I am thinking of having a go at sorting a minor coolant leak from somwhere around the front of the engine, in the Haynes manual it mentions needing a special tool to remove the fan.
Is that right ?, and if so are there any simple ways of removing it without buying something that I probably wont use again (accept of course, later in the same week to fix the leak again which will be twice as bad!)

Also, anyone know if there is one of those rovacom discs that covers the 200tdi?

any replys appretiated, especially the funny ones.

    thanks.

Search for viscous fan wrench or similar, plenty of discussion.

I think rovacom only works with LRs with ECUs, or do you mean Rave disc? In which case check out Markets tab at top of page.

To get the fan off, you could do with one of those flat spanners designed for the job. They are a useful addition to any toolkit.

Failing that, a hammer & punch will work but you run the risk of damaging it.

As for the disks... I think you mean RAVE. Not sure if RAVE goes back far enough to cover the 200TDi...

i had this problem getting the fan off mine (300Tdi) when i did the timing belt, fortunately i did it at my mechanics workshop and he has a spanner that he used to get fans of falcons, which he had ground down thinner on a bench grinder, i had to grind a bit more but it worked. If you cant get the tool, buy a single spanner the right size and grind the head thinner and thinner until it fits, that will get you out of trouble and will be much cheaper than a special tool. Matt

if you dont have any luck we could post ours to you to use and you could post it back not sure whether this would start getting close to the cost of buying one though.......
