Shuttle valve ????'s

In all the years working with LR i have only changed 1 D1 ABS modulator.
This was on a new vehicle still in warranty while doing a PD.
Unit was cross threaded when brake pipe went into & couldnt repair.

I would gather it is a sensor, I have read u have checked them, but we find that the sensor reads ok when testing with a multimeter, but tends to fail when the cable is bent as the outer sheath goes a little brittle in time.

You can get ABS sensors done as change over units, as there is a guy in Melb who does them. I can organise if one is needed.

Thanks stevo, there is hope yet for the beast,it is comforting to know the di has redeeming features.
sniegy will check the wiring again, when i have a helper who can do some jiggling for me, ie the son who doesn;t like getting his hands dirty.

Finished all the mowing early, worked out how to do it myself,
i think i found the culprit, from o/s front sensor, right at the connection on top of the sensor, the sheath is very flexible no sign of hardness. the reading does nothing until you jiggle the wire up and down, then its all over the place,

who is this guy in melbourne who does the changeovers, and more importantly what kind of money is he looking at.

good to see you found something and it works out cheaper if you do it yourself plus you learn a bit more on how things work or in some cases don't

you absolutely correct, reading all the apparent problems, the last thing you think about is, where does your own model fit into the picture,
as always we all assume the worst,

Can someone tell me if brake fluid will leak out anywhere when I take the modulator out?

I have ordered the new modulator but it won't arrive for a week or so from the UK. I am also rebuilding the calibers, fitting new pads and rotors. I will have time to get the brakes bled but I don't wont to bleed them if I'm going to have to do it again once I fit the new modulator.

Cool, Thanks mate.

I'll wait until the modulator gets here and I'll replace it before I fill it up and bleed the system.

It's got to be pretty empty. I have some clean strips of rag wrapped around the brake hoses for each wheel and then electrical tape around that then they are hanging in tins to catch the dripping brake fluid. I think it's pretty empty after about a week like that.
