Disco 2s - which are the best / worst ones?

    Right,

Starting to think serious about our Long Service Leave trip next year.

First of all the car, prob narrowed it down to looking at a TD5 Auto Disco with the usual Bullbar / snorkel / recovery points etc.

The car will be bought at the end of this year / early next year - so no rush.

I like the external look of the last D2s - 2003+ but hate the fact most come with that bloody Alpaca interior color. Current thinking is a 2002 with less than 100,000kms and all the toys.

The car will prob only be kept for about 1 year and then get a used Rangie Sport TDV6 - as they will be cheap as chips once the TDV8 is here (WELL LETS HOPE)

So someone remind me and tell me which were the changes in the model line up since its launch in 1998/1999 and which were the best and for what reasons. Model upgrade was 2003 with the lighting etc

If you asked me about Rangie Classics or Disco 1s I could answer all my own questions, but the D2 is a different beast.

    THX in advance

If you are going for a 2002 - it may not have a CDL - you may not want or need it, but when it comes to resell - the audience is wider if it has a CDl

Its not an easy fix on a vehicle with no CDL mechanism in the trasfer box. It's easy if the CDL is there - but most 2002 had zero - the last costs I got from the UK was 175.00 UKPounds - plus a further 200 uk pounds for the actuator.

    175 - AU$ 420.00

    200 - AU$ 480.00

All plus shipping - then labour - cheaper if you do it yourself - but still ought to be considered.

Or if you have a spare LT230 tranfercase in all your spares use that instead, My D2 2002 has a early disco transfercase in it as it never had a CDL mechnism at all.
