Clicks and clunks front and rear

Since a big play las weekend I have a clicking in the rear diff and a cracking noise in the front. I have lifted each wheel and they all spin fine. Pulled the rear axles and they looked fine ( well pulled the long one out till it hit the wall) It center did feel notchy when I refitted the axles os do you think its the spider gears or the shaft that holds the spider gears has slipped out and is just touching the housing?

The front I cannot tell but if t was a CV I assume it would be quite lound on slow hard lock turns.

I couldn't see it being something to do with the diff side gears.
The suspension often needs retightening after giving it a workout so maybe that might be a starting point. Check the bushes & rear ball joint for wear too (I assume it's a Disco1 in your avator).

No the noise is rotational as in constant click on the tyre rotation but cannot get it to make the noise spinning the wheels on stands.

This is going to be hard to diagnose over the internet.
It's possible you may have a chipped tooth on the crown wheel or pinion.

Does the noise vary in speed when you are turning tight corners (so you are working the side gears) ?
Or is it constant when either straight or turning (CW/P) ?

Are the wheel bearings OK ?

As for the cracking noise from the front, it sounds serious but I don't know what that might be. Does that vary with speed too ?

I removed the centre last night and the pin holding the spider gears is broken it two places just inside the gears. The spider gears have groved and are stuffed. I am glad I did not keep driving as they would have eventually locked up and stufed the crown wheel and pinion.

Definately pays to listen to the little noises befor they become large noises
