Would this:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/4speed-ZF-AUT...QQcmdZViewItem
go in a 1985 County - currently has LT95 4 speed.
Don't tell me the LT95 is stronger - the transfer shaft is broken so at the moment, it's the weakest transfer available.
If I have to spend money anyway, an auto makes it a nicer touring/beach machine.

Would be a good conversion but could end up being costly by not doing it yourself, you will also need to source an LT230 transfer plus shifter, cooler lines, flexplate/converter, mounts, plus other small items . Maybe ring around and and get a price, it will most likely be un economical unless you are prepared to throw cash at it.

This honestly is probably the better option if you can't tackle this yourself, I'm certainly not bagging the thought of an auto in a 110. Infact I think it would be a dam good project and I think the results if the conversion is done right would be pleasing to say the least.
As I'm sure many others would agree, often projects like this tend to blow out of the initial budget. My last auto conversion (265 & C4 into a LWB Series 3) blew out about another 30% of my original budget and that was with me doing all the work. Paying someone else to do it I could see some pitfalls unless they have done conversions such as this, as any "unforseen issues" that arise, end up costing you more dollars.
Dam, I'd be so interested in doing this conversion, that box on ebay looks like a fantastic start, if only you lived next doorAny other members you know that live close by and have the ability and willingness to do this job? Come on you lot, I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this would be a Land Rover-goodness-fun-project
