Thread: Inside a winch and upgrading a Disco bullbar.

Those things are lifting eyes, 16mm metric with a reinforcing plate behind it, and a nylock nut. They make a good place to hook on when using a pulley block. $4 ea at my local nut and bolt shop (Industrial fasteners). Hardest part was drilling a 16mm hole in steel.
My number plate now lives on the grill ( I edited it out on the pic).
I'll price some premade 2 gauge wire, and see what I can come up with about moving the control box or putting it in a waterproof box.

While those lifting eyes look substantial, they are not rated all that highly. Also their strength varies with changes in the direction of pull. Hooks are better.

Yeah - they're only rated to 700kg, I'd like some of the swivel recovery eyes from the UK - will have wait I suppose.

The bar came up nice, Looks great. I have an X9 in a TJM bar, I have the albright solenoid pack in behind the headlight in my disco. makes it reasonable easy to work on if an issue arises and keeps them out of harms way.

There is more room than it looks, can still get to the globe no problem. Hand in from the left side. I just didn't have anywhere else in the engine bay to put it without running any longer cables.
