    How much brake fluid?

For those who have changed their brake fluid in a Disco2(or Defender with ABS/TC) roughly how much fluid did you use?
Hoping to do mine in the next week or 2,need to buy some.

To completely change the brake fluid, assuming you have ABS, you need the testbook to do it correctly.

If you do it without (unless you short certain wires to open certain valves) you will not get all the old fluid from the system.

When it comes to a brake fluid change I leave it to the chaps who have the testbook.

Andrew, I changed mine in my 93 Disco and used less than a litre and took 10 mins with help from a mate to pump, but I dont have all that extra stuff like ABS and TC so I can do it myself unlike the whiz bang gadgetry you have on yours, I would leave it to the L/R Stealers to do and charge like a wounded bull, Regards Frank.

    Hi Ladas
Defenderzook posted the method of changing it a week or 3 ago.
I asked the local mechanic how he does ABS equipped vehicles, the same way DefenderZook posted. He suggested changing the fluid operating the brakes then changing again.

    Hi Ladas
It was in the thread that Crump had going RE Bleeding his TD5 cooling system/changing the coolant if that rings a bell.I scribbled the directons down on paper.
I also saved the link somebody posted to WABCO,but havent looked in there how they suggest to bleed/flush the system yet.

Here's the thread, I was looking for it last week and couldn't find it. Tonight it was first cab off the rank.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...ighlight=brake

Page 4, but doesn't include anything about bypassing/shorting stuff for ABS.

    Cheers
    Simon.

if you get two bottles of the stuff.......it should be plenty.......

if you change what fluid you can....then go out and find a bit of a gravel patch and get the abs to kick in.....
it should work the new stuff through the system......

then simply change fluid again.......heck.....i reckon you could change your brake fluid monthly and it would still work out cheaper than going to dealer......

doesnt turning on the ignition purge the abs as a self test......?
