    TD5 80,000 km service

    Hi,

How's much did you pay for you TD5 80,000km service?
I've have one quote for $597 and another for $1500! The $1500 one reckons they do extra service on the transmission, which isn't quoted by LR, are they pulling my leg?

    Cheers,

At 80,000 service I was quoted $1350.00, as they replace all driveline oils.
I told the dealer I didn't want the driveline touched as it had been filled juust before I bought it (73k) with Red Line full synthetic. The only oil I wanted changed was the engine.

The quote was dropped to $350.

just be carefull where you get it serviced......most places just use whatever oil they have on hand.......
read cheapest to buy in bulk.......

you need to make sure they are using the correct oil.......
especially if you have a Td5....these engines are really fussy with their oil......

    So I hear Zook,

The guy who services mine does a lot of TD5's and uses special synthetic oil he keeps for them only.

They are that fussy they even wear rubber gloves. I don't mind $45.00 per hour is pretty good for some one who does quality work.

I think we forfed over $800 for sally annes 80 thou, When we were in darwin the stealer wanted $900 for a 60 thou minor service. I rang the dealer from who i bought her and they quoted $320 for the 60 thou, but they are if Shepperton, Vic. You just gotta look around. Find out how many Ks between services they guarentee.

    80k service

Cost us around the $440.00 inc labour and quality oil. I supplied all the filters etc. We also had the transmision done, $65 for a genuine service kit.
We use a local mechanic who is non landrover for all regular servicing.
Anything that requires testbook goes to Ricks 4x4 in Nerang.
