$175 for a Bearing???? Your kidding...
I know the whole plate is about $400 but the bearing at $175.......... YEASH
Just had the 300,000 km timing belt change done on the Defender and had the fan bearing replaced with one manufactured by MTE 4x4 accessories 0351336001 that I came accross at the Wandin field day. they have developed this bearing because of the nil world stock of the SKF OEM without having to replace the whole timing cover. my LR mechanic that fitted it had only one criticism and that was that the end plug moved when pressing on the fan boss and he simply pushed it back and polyeurethaned it over. We'll see how it goes!
BTW $175.00 plus post

In another thread about a year back, a forum member who has a banner advert at the top of forum stated that he can supply replacement bearings.
From memory it was British 4wd Spares or something like that - need to wait for the banner ads to cycle through.

YEASH indeed but I'd sooner pay $175 for a bearing than $400 odd for a bearing and a bit of cast aluminium
From what I understand is that some of the bearings being supplied are modified from double shaft ended bearings for a Jag or Triumph, with one end machined off, I dont know if the bearings are stripped down before this machining, if not I can see problems with heat and the ball and roller races and cutting fluid entering the bearing.
These bearings are the same design as the SKF one
