Rear end has sunk over night

Hi everyone. Have a Disco 99, series II. woke up this morning with the back right hand side sunk right down. Mud guard below tyre. Noticed a noise while sitting in car last night. Intermittant, like someone kicking the back tyre every 30 seconds or so. what could this be? does the disco have air shockies that could lose air? there is no oil leakage.

Yes, some, if not all ?, DII's have air filled suspension, and it would be my guess you have a leak in one of them.

Start the vehicle and see if it comes back up to normal ride height, then listen to the rear suspension and you may hear where the leak is comming from.

slow air leak more than likely in one of the air bags, when one side starts to go down due to a leak the computer will lower the other side to keep it level, push the button that lifts the rear end higher and get a spray bottle and spray around the airbag they tend to leak around the bottom
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

dont discount a sticking control valve... it will cause the problem intermitantly till it fails entirely.

    Hi Ladas
The 7 seaters have rear air suspension, the 5 seaters have coils.
Shaunus,if you get a horrendous price to fix the air suspension, the coil springs can be retro fitted.Hopefully its a leaky airbag or fitting, not the electronic air suspension components.

everyone tries to scare you about the cost of replacing the air suspension, its not that expensive compared to going back 20 years to coils.

air bags get from air bag man in Qld they are made my Dunlop just not badges as Land Rover, cost about $200 bag compared to $800 from land rover supplied air bags.

replacement sensors for air suspension cost about $300 to replace each

cost of coil suspension is about $2500

So 4 new air bags plus 4 new sensors still cheaper than coils

Highly unlikely need to replace every sensor and bag at same time

Where are you buying your coils from?

About $800 (IIRC) will see a DII converted to coils using all genuine LR parts at the associated LR parts pricing.

    I doubt you'd need to re[place a sensor.

I don't know if the airbags on DIIs use the same air line collet as the P38A but the O-rings there are a common cause of leaking. Replace the O-rings. Remove them (2 in each fitting) by pulling them out with a crochet needle (it won't scratch the bore in which the O-ring sits).

Another source of air bellows is Arnott Industries:

British Motor Imports in Mulgrave (NSW) bring the Arnotts products in. Others may also.
