Most Wheel bearing nut sockets are 50-52mm for 4x4s. From memory LR ones are closer to 50mm but a 52mm socket will get them off, just takes a bit of care. The 52mm socket is the type I have and it is not quite a perfect fit, but works. I believe it is specifically for Yota.

the knock on a not sailsubry diff is usually less than the knock on a sailsbury diff as a sailsbury diff is a heavier unit the components have more energy behind them when they strike each other..
But as of yet I have not quantitively measured the difference... IF i do so would you prefer the result in a Db level indicator or a calculated newtons of force result?
The stub axle bearing nut is the usual 52mm..(or its imperial equivelant)

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Picked up a 52mm hub nut socket from Karcraft a couple of weeks ago for about $18. Before I went there I tried several repco, supercheap, local truck parts place. None had in stock and mostly had no idea what I was talking about. In several cases I was told didn't exist.
The Karcraft one only has holes for a lever to tighten/loosen, doesn't have a socket mount so if you're keen to do up with a torque wrench you'll need something else. I think OI bought one from Graeme Cooper that came with a socket hole.
Cheers

Well failed to shift it so it's all bolted back up and sealed. I will be borrowing a socket later in the week. They do exist! I will then try again. At least I can now confirm I do have the oil fed bearings.
Most good tool shops and some not so good (supercrap etc) stock them. They vary in price from around $10 up to $80. The one I have got is a Toyota $80 but is good quality and will take a 1/2 breaker bar or ratchet.
You do get what you pay for in quality with some of these.
