Question reverse/brake light fuse blows when starting

Like the heading says the fuse blows when I start the engine, the brake lights and reverse lights work when the fuse is replaced but as soon as I start the engine the fuse blows anyone come across this before??

will be crawling under the car later to check the wiring harness but in the mean time will pull the fuse before starting the engine then once it is running put it back in, in the process of finding a job so need to drive around.

    Q.
When you start the car, do all the warning lights on the dash light up?

    Q. After the fuse blows, do they still all light up?

If not, the fault may be with the start up check the car does when you start it. So the fault may be behind the dash and not under the car.

I'm more likely to be wrong than right on this, but it's worth considering.

also the fuse will blow when I go for a drive so thinking there must be a wire rubbed through somewhere blows when starting so have to assume that movement is causing the wire to short will go under the car tomorrow,I will have my meter pluged into the fuse box it will beep if there is a change in the readings so if i move a wire and I hear a beep I know I'm close to the problem

found the fault in under 5 minutes inspected the most likely area first moved the wiring loom going into the transmission and seen the spark it had been rubbing on a bracket just behind the plug left hand side of tranny.

Sprayed the offending wire with sealing spray(rubber) then wrapped it in self sealing electical tape then normal tape got to keep out the water and mud other wise it comes back to annoy you again, then cable tied away from the bracket, might be something else to check next time you are under the car.
