Thats weird, my original tyres were 245 70 R16 and then went to 245 75 R16. I was told that the larger tyre would mean that I am going faster than the speedo said.

Oh well - might explain the lack of speeding tickets.

As far as i know 235/70/16 was the largest tyre factory fitted to D1's.
My speedo reads slow by about 6% so if i go up slightly it be even.

I put 235/70/16 as original, then 235/80/16 as replacement in the first one and get that my speedo reading @ 100 i will be doing about 94kmh
The other one says I'll be doing 106kmh

I don't get it

then im going even slower than i thought x 2

oh well, the 300Tdi wasn't designed for speed.

As long as you can pass a toymota thats all that matters !

Neither of those calculators will recognise 31 x 10.5 x 15 as a valid tyre size which makes them pretty well useless for working with the 4WD tyres many of us are using.
