The keys for my Disco II have worn and need replacement. What has happened is the rubber covering the lock/unlock buttons has perished. My local dealer reckons the only alternative is to buy two new keys and have them programmed and a cost of $500! This is obviously quite ridiculous. Does anyone know of a cheaper way to obtain and then programme Disco II keys?

RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
I was down at Oakleigh locksmiths coz I busted my crummydore key, they replaced the key part for $31.90. I'm sure I saw a sign saying electronic keys were $120.00 for most makes.
Worth trying a couple of local locksmiths anyway.
You can get the metal bit of the key cut almost anywhere.
If it's only the rubber bits on the fob, then you can buy replacements - it might mean an extra key on the ring, but $500 against about $45 it is worth it.
Thanks for the advice.
In the interim I have used some gap seal to reinforce what's left of the buttons on the better of the two keys. Seems to work OK so far, it should hold me over until I can get a replacement organised.
