Had to laugh, when I saw a sign in a workshop once.........

It advertised the hourly rate .....

    Doubled, if you watched

    Tripled, if you helped

    (I could understand that)

    Back yard landy mech

Licenced or not with landys it comes down to experience and knowage of the product i repair many landies and also other lesser trucks at home at the rite price and dont have any dramas with recall work i am trades quilfied but not as a mech and have a verry good mech back ground have been spinnin spanners for about 16 years now and cant see it stoping soon either ...

Some say back yard mech are rough and bodgy but i have many happy coustomers to say different .....

    My 2 cents worth

    Hahahahaha!

A mechanic here goes by a rule of thumb like that: "I'f you've tried to fix it and stuffed it up, then its gonna cost heaps!"

I prefer to fix things, if I can and I've gone as far as engine rebuilds.

This way I get to know the car and also know that 'things' have been done.

Unlike a few experiences with 'stealers'.......

should I tell the story of my then new (1985) Bronco and the brake issue and the saga of the dealer? scary stuff.....

sheesh, Karcraft are wholesalers, list (retail) pricing is quite a bit higher. 30% is very reasonable.

I got a quote for replacement of brake disc pads, from our mates up here in Alice Springs, Sutton Motors.

They quoted $79.20 per hour including GST and invoice actual time.
I think this is fair because:

    1. If a job takes 1hour 15 mins thats all you'll pay for
    2. They've forgotten more about Land Rovers than I'm ever likely to know
    3. They're often a source of free advice on smaller jobs

I don't mind spending the money as long as I feel I get value for it.

    Cheers

    Jason
