Funny mine is exactly the same. Maybe its a design feature!
I don't think that the Rangie has a sophisticated enough or light enough suspension to feel nuances like a bent sway bar bracket.
As long as all the rubbers are Ok it should be Ok in practical terms.
The difference in mine is on doorhandles around roundabouts Vs just on sills.

You must take those roundabouts fast Philip!

How do you find the disco with no front swaybar Matt? I'm thinking about taking mine off.
The only problem I see with the bent mounts is the swaybar linkage will reach full extension earlier when you are articulating and may 'invert' itself more easily producing odd suspension effects (assuming the front ones can invert). It hasn't happened to mine (yet).

yep it will still work although it will put some pull on it when you get nearer the limits of articulation...

it might also clunk a little if its moved far enough that the rods thqat hang from the bar can touch the housing or other componentry.

from memory isnt there a fluid line (fuel From memory) that runs somewhere near that bracket

a quick eyeball at the inside edge of the chassis and the welds with a magnifying glass and if thats all ok then your sweet.

I have a front swaybar disconnect on my D2. It does help offroad, but you do notice the difference on road. Not so much when you just come back onto the bitumen, but after a while you notice the steering is a bit wobbly, dips into corners and rolls. Nothing dangerous...but just becareful taking bends at speed.

That is bent. All corners of the mount should be 90 degrees eg the mount should look like a rectangle. ( sorry I am having trouble getting what is in my head to the keyboard )

I did similar damage to mine, had the front mounts cut off, straightened & welded back on by a panel beater, cost about $200 from memory.

2 weeks later did the same damage to rear sway bar mounts

The Disco was different to drive without the front sway bar, best described as a more remote steering feel at highway speeds. It does not feel any different without the rear bar though.

When the rear mounts were damaged it put my steering wheel out 90 degrees til the sway bar was removed, it was under a fair bit of tension & must have moved the rear axle. It is now hanging in the shed.

I have removed the swaybars from my 300tdi - much more comfortable especially across rocks and second grade highway. Still hve them on my V8 (town car)
