Thread: Where does your fridge live in your Defender ..?

Now that.....I think is a clever solution.
Pity my Engal is too long to do that in the my 130 twin cab .....I have mine laid on the floor infront of the rear seats. It takes up the space of one imaginary rear passenger who I've had in the four years of owning the truck!

I'd be inclined to keep the slide mount though....easy in and easy out solution without faffing about.

I should say at this point that if you have a cargo barrier like we have it's a struggle to fit it all in there! It does just fit though, but you have to get the angles exactly right

Mine's in the middle of the second row of seats...

I've replaced my rear seats with the Exmoor Trim 3x seats in the rear. I've removed the seat back & base of the middle, mounted the water tank underneath & stuck the fridge on top.

It also helps keep the kids apart when fighting...

Why are you removing the slide lock ?

I was lucky, my defender came with a 3 piece rear seat and my 40lt engel fits in the centre perfectly, and allows easy access whilst driving.

Sorry Cameron, didn't see this earlier. I'm thinking of removing the slidelok for two reasons.

Firstly, the slidelok is a excellent thing, and is up to all normal loads. However, if you had a bump with something, or worse still a more serious accident then you've got probably 30kg of fridge restrained by a small plastic latch. This doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Even though I've been tethering it to the cargo barrier I'm still not happy. I love my wife and kids too much

The other reason is it's very very tight in there the height and angle of the stand are **critical** to it fitting. The wheel arch stops you going lower and the angle of my cargo barrier dictates that it has to recline back. You can't go higher or you won't be able to open the door! So by removing the fridgelok and matching fridge feet I'll be able to get the fridge probably 4-6 cm lower which would be good. Luckily the wife is tall but she would appreciate this I think

The downside is installation and removal will be more difficult. Also, finding exactly where to drill the holes isn't going to be easy I'm going to give it a try though.

Similar to Reeds, but not as pretty. I'm thinking of moving it to the other side though.

The slide is an old server drawer.

yep moving it to the other side would make access easier as you are not jammed up against the door
