    steel treks

bought a set to drive from brissy to cooktown and back, seemed ok, that was the driving i did on them (just wanted some cheese cutters instead of the 35's)

hunt around for people who sell ex army stuff, thats how i got mine, trading post i think, but pretty rare find. ex-army are still near new, don't know if they even make them anymore?

got two on rims (near new) off ma trailer if your keen?

A good tyre, but I cant comment on expected mileage. They were popular with Gov't depts as its hard to stake one, and I guess a public servant would take 3 hours to change a wheel ( just Kidding)

    PM weiry username slipedisk.

He's in Adelaide and has some for sale. I was gunna buy them but he couldn't get a courier to pick them up as neither he nor I have accounts with transport compnaIES.

If you have any contacts with accounts with transport companies, you might be able to buy them off him.

    The price was very good.

my tyre of choice when i can get them esp for the series rovers..

IMHO they are not the best tyre for any one type of terrain but if you dont know what youre going to throw at them then they;re what you want..

The army fit them for this reasonm that and they have plenty of carcase strenght if set up corectly and not overheated...

Do not over heat them... they will die really fast.

Yea they still make them, I reckon the army are the only ones that buy them. Probably cause the price tag, can't remember exactly but I remember that they were way more expensive than the Coopers when I bought them.
Dave's right about the unflation on them too, they are a steel belt, and if they are under inflated then the belts flex and eventually snap or seperate. Very untidey!

    Cheers
