How much oil does a Sals really take..

Changing oils on my rear diff after replacing hub seals and it was like a blck hole I went a whole litre more before the seep from the filling plug?but it was still 250ml less than what came out (N0 H2O ingression)
Also when greaing Ive started to use Marine grad grease to assist with the many river crossings I seem to be doing.

they take about 4.5l from memory (will look up the spec when I get my books out of storage...

if youve filled it while its on chassis stands, you dont have the right amount in there (it wont hurt it but next time you check it it will be about .5l low assuming yhou check it with the wheels on the deck
