    Possibly easy Disco 1 questions

Just two quick ones for the Land Rover oracles

    1. Are there significant gains in blanking off the EGR valve with a scorpion racing kit or similar?

    2. Read about "reversing" the wheel centre on standard steel Disco wheels....apart from the more agresive look, does this offer any advantages? Will this affect alignment effectivness on a vehicle with a 2' suspension lift (even with a camber kit fitted)?

Okay that was technically three quick ones....but looking forward to your input anyway

Reversing the rims will increase your wheel track that gives you extra stability but can foul guards (I have been told I havnt got them) but will not change your wheel alignment or caster only the longtatudinal load on the wheel bearings but they should stand up to it no worries.

I assume you meant a 2" lift not 2' as a 2' lift would require a few mods of the major kind.

My disco has a 2" lift and the steering actually feels more precice and the only thing negative is a vibration that has developed since I put it in.

Nothing that cant be lived with though.

As far as blocking off the EGR goes, EGR doesnt effect performance if it is working effectively and you will lose economy for very little gain if any by blocking it off.

I dont know much about the rover system but they all work in a similar way and they only put exaust gasses into the engine on decelleration or light load so it shouldnt have any change in noticable HP.

If you run reversed rims on a disco you will need to cut the guards and fit LRA or simliar flares.

What engine is in the disco, V8 or 300Tdi?

You will find many references to blanking the egr on 300Tdi, in british landie forums, but Aus 300Tdi's were never fitted with egr (or electronic diesel control).

I tried disco rims on a defender: but changed back after I realized that the increased offset worstened the turning circle noticeably (even after tweaking the bumpstops).
