    FAQ Disco 1

I think it might be a good time to chuck in some frequently asked questions.

Might be easier to search for answers.

Chuck in a question or a question and answer or just an answer to one of the questions.

Might be an Idea to title the question as well to make it easier to find.

My D1 has/ had 235/70/16 as standard, 245/75 or 70 is a good upgrade that creates verry little clearance problems and your speedo will read correctly.

What is required at different lift stages?
ie. 2 inch spring lift - nothing
body lift - radiator. brakes lines, gear selector etc. etc.
bigger spring lift - driveline angles?

I'm not really sure what kind of replies you want here but maybe this will do...

Question: Why does the engine bay smell like hot tin and have white deposits all over the drivers side but my temperature guage reads 'normal'?

Answer: Your original black expansion tank has just split at the seams and you are running with a dangerously low level of coolant.

Solution: Replace the black tank with a white one p/n PCF101590 and consider fitting a low coolant level alarm.

    Front end shimmy

I am on my 3rd set of panhard rod bushes and have had to resize the diff end bolt hole. This seems to be a common problem that causes the car to handle badly at highway speeds.

G'day. I've got a 97 V8 DISCO and I love it and this site has solved the niggles I've had with it. Like the broken spring in the tailgate.

The one I haven't solved is the dreaded SRS warning light. I read the threads about yellow plugs under the seats, but this seems to be a D2 solution. I can't find plugs under my seats.

If I adjust the seats, pull the belts, adjust steering column I can get the light to go out, but not permanently. Is there a fix? Where should I head first?

I don't want to keep running back to the Stealer to clear the codes with my cheque book open.
