    Auxillary fuel tank solenoid valve

I have just fitted two 40l sill tanks from Les Richmond to my 82 Range Rover. I am now wondering how best to plumb them into the fuel system.
I have a carby fed motor with standard electric fuel pump.

I am hoping to get hold of a simple solenoid valve to switch between tanks either to feed the main fuel pump or to transfer fuel to the main tank? I dont run a return line to the 350 Holley and it does not seem to be a problem for the standard electric fuel pump. I run around on LPG most of the time.

Where can I get valves to switch tanks (even a manual operated one would be better than nothing) or does anyone have any ideas for plumbing these petrol tanks ?

    Thnks

you could put a 3 way hydraulic valve in or a special built brass 3 way...

but I always found it easier to simply plumb a pair of cheapy electric pumps onto the secondary tanks and have them pump into the main tank..

Tie all the breathers together and you dont get any pressure problems either.

A simple electric fuel pump from supercrap and a fuel hose would work.Plumb it so it pumps into the main tank, just remember to pump it thru before you run out.Nissan patrol utes work on the same principal, you need to pump the sub tank into the main.Seemed to work fine on the farm ute.

I used a two way solenoid valve from an old Jaguar XJ6. They had two fuel tanks and a single solenoid valve to transfer the fuel.
You may also need to plumb in a return valve to make a weir system.Other wise you could flood the carb.
I had twin SU's and needed a return...you might be lucky and can go without. Worth thinking about down the road though.

    Regards.
