    89 rr trans box

    Hi All
hope this is posted in the right area
My 89 RR jumps out of low range, every thing else appears ok. Its the transfer box with just hi/low so I gather it has a centre diff (think thats what its called), was also told they have a chain drive in them, is this right. What do the experts think would be wrong and cost to fix or has someone got a second hand/ recoed transfer box for sale.
    cheers

Mate if you can only shift from hi to low you hav a viscous coupling type of box not a transfer with center diff if its jumping outa low id say the linkage under the floor is bent /broken or has crap stuck in it get under the truck and have a look see it may be a simple fix ....
If you find its stuffed and would like a t/case with a center diff shoot me a pm as i have one for sale its a lt230t outa a 86 rangie

    Hi
Jumped under this morning and disconnected the linkage and its still not selecting low range (bloody thing is perfect in high), just seems its not detenting (for want of a better word), It seems like the travel distance from neutral to high is equal to the distance from nuetral to low. When all linkages are connected and its in low range, holding the lever in low it violently jumps out. This is now an internal problem, but what.
What are the expexted cost for a good transfer box and expexted time for change over.
    cheers
