I can confirm that D2 headlight protectors will not fit D1. I can confirm that the hard way - I am somewhat embarrassed to say that after Pedro-the-swift gave a set away to me,( A swap for some DVD's) I tried to fit them to my D1 - at which point just before they should clip in, they break. The angle of D1 headlight/indicator is too different to the D2 setup. One may get around it by heating the perspex in an oven before fitment, but I haven't got around to that yet.

I fitted the bonet protector myself and didnt have any problems at all...you just have to take you time and be careful. Its helped too with the chips in the bonnet and has withstood a number of good wacks with branches etc...

I got mine from the Wandin 4wd show for $70.

I've got this type on my D2a - been there for almost 4 years and no change since new. Much nicer than the perspex ones that have to be removed to be cleaned and always seem to crack.

The reason I took mine off was they were ugly,,
made it look SO much nicer without them.

Are we talking early D2 protectors or D2A, cause the late D1 headlight is almost identical to the early D2.

Lou if you can go around to T.R.Spares at Padstow, i got my protectors from there and i'm pretty sure they had D1 protectors.

    9709 5611 give them a ring.

I can vouch for the sticky type, mine are "lightskins" brand and work very well. no yellowing on the headlights of my 2000 d2 fitted new and the same on my Rallye 2000s swapped from my D1 3 years earlier. I'm sure it has saved me some headlights and I've had a hit from a roo crack the glass on one of the Hellas but it was still usable.
