    Defender clutch cylinder advice sought

Does anyone have views as to which brands (or suppliers) of master (in particular) and slave cylinders are 'better' quality? Mine are due for replacement again (no leaks but plenty of air getting in, yet to sort which one is the problem) and my feeling is that they should have lasted somewhat longer. Does one get what one pays for - ie. is there a price/quality correltation? Would be interrested in any views.

Girling (the OE m/c) used to be the best m/c's you could get. Most nearly all race cars I had anything to do with used them for brake and clutch use, however, after using them on Defender's my opinion has changed somewhat.......

I picked up a PBR 3/4" m/c a month or so back. Identical to the Girling in every way. Cheaper than a seal kit for the Girling/Lucas m/c. We'll see how it goes.

I bought a re-con master cylinder about 9 months or so with the bore lined with a stainless steel sleeve. so far it's been exellent, took a day or so to 'bed' in (I thought it had air in it) but then was good.
got it from 'power brakes' here in adelaide, cost $90 with my knackerd one as exchange

    Clutch M/C

    Mate

I've said this b4 nd I'll say it again. ABS or Girling 3/4 bore trailer brale MC. Last one I brought was 47.95. EXACTLY the same as the OEM. No Problem (apart from the usual skun knuckles, strained neck muscles, abuse hurled at the neighbours cat etc) clutch works fine like a Ferarri

The rover ones are just cheap nasty units. Buy a new one ( I think I bough mine for $50) and get your old one resleeved SS. Reminds me I have to send my old one back to get resleeved in SS.

Thanks Guys - sleeving does sound like the go - and a cheap 'trailer' cylinder as back-up.
