    Exclamation "Poorman's" 2" lift....

What do people know about a so-called el-cheapo 2" lift you can do on a Disco 1 by swapping the standard rear springs to the front and putting in, say, the medium [OME 781] or med. heavy duty [OME 762] coils in the back {see https://www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/indexsprings.htm } and keeping [for a while till they need replacing] a good set of the "Sport" /heavyduty Bilsteins or maybe adding the relocation brackets { https://www.expeditionexchange.com/suspension/ } on rear or spacers on the shockies together with the use of Spring seat isolators such as ANR 2938 Genuine Land Rover Rubberized Spring Isolators top and bottom at rear and bottom up front .......and with RBC100111 Genuine LR Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Rings as shown on that same page......

.......I've good near new Bilsteins which now make the no sway bar Disco handle really well on the road but I want to raise it 2" which can be done safely without a lot of other things needing to be done, front RHS coil has definetly sagged about 2" and LHS front is iffy.....rears are fine.........then when I want to change the 205/80x16 Michelin XPC's [2 of which have only done 3000 klms] eventually or get some steel rims and get 245/70x16 BFG M/T's or similar it won't look silly.

Used as occasional fun off roader and mainly just taking dog/s for runs in parks and stuff without ripping up other vehicles.

As an aside - Do the spring spacers reduce noise vibration? By reducing metal - metal contact from drive train to chassis. If so it might be a worthwhile NVH improvement.

That is one of their benefits!.......they're fitted as standard on Disco 2's on and the RR's from 95 P38a's on.......have a read of the stuff about them on that web page.

If you install spacers under the springs, it may be necessary to space the bump stops down by a similar amount.

If not you risk the coils binding on full bump. If this happens you are likely to have the spring mounts tear off the chassis.

Even if the coils don't bind on someone else's vehicle, that is no guarantee yours wont (they may have different coils with fewer turns or smaller section wire).

I wouldnt use spacers, i was referring to the moving rears to the front and then new springs in the rear for a budget lift.

Usually the rear spring to front works best with Range Rover springs.
The "green" standard rear springs from a 92 are 1/2 inch longer than LRA "green", and lift the front just over 2 inches. they are 160Lb per inch, whereas Disco ones are about 200 or may be progressive 180-220.

Depends how much you want to do by rotating swivels etc and what ride is acceptable to you. Even the Greens give virtually no caster, so I backed off 1/2 inch by using LRA ones.
Then you get which rears you want eg LRA Purple or Purple Orange

Have a look at this site
