    vacuum advance

for reasons unknown i removed and blanked the vacuum advance hose from my 3.5 V8 stromberg carb to the distributor. i run solely on LPG. the engine seems to run better at idle, start better and feel more responsive (if thats at all possible). how come? should i leave it plugged? am i doing harm?

Have you sucked on the hose?
If the diaphragm in the dizzy was split, you would get a lean mixture.
By blocking it, the leak into the manifold is cured.
If the diaphragm is split, it will go MUCH better with a new one.

the dizzy is less than a year old and in good condition. i was wondering if the difference is down to the different burn characteristics of LPG?

Maybe one of the LPG experts will answer, But AFAIK LPG likes more initial advance than petrol.
