I never had any problems with it in my d1...
I bet the neighbours 12yo son he couldnt get the bulbs out in less than 5 minutes....
Cost me an ice cream... Cause I got a couple of free packs of bulbs (veery cheap and nasty) he used to watch me drive home like a hawk and would be waiting with the gate open wanting to know If i knew I had a light out, His dad made the comment that his kid was just putting the old bulb back in a different spot...

There was a great thread on Overlander a while ago where a Prado owner was changing the headlight globe and it fell inside the headlight. You then have to remove the whole assembly to get it out again. Priceless! :D

I guess hving bigger hands dont help, my knuckles were also coping a bruising!
Just went through this a while back. The Disco lights are actually from a parts bin for Metro hatches or some other such little plebs car in the UK, so fitting and accessibility were afterthoughts. How unlike Rover!
No one has mentioned my idea.
1. Remove the complete light assembly and sell it on ebay.
2. Go to a sheet metal workshop and have a checker plate blank made to fit the big hole.
3. I tube of sicka-flex glue it in place.
4. Buy a set of series or defender lights and fit them.
Easy changing might sound silly, but much easier and cheaper. Have you priced a new tail light mould.
