    damaged cat converter

Gday, I have just damaged my cat converter on my series 2 3.9 v8 while out playing today. I have found a used exaust system to replace mine on evil bay for a ser 1 3.9 v8, it has no cat converter. and doesn't look like the holes are there for the exaust sensors.do i need the sensors and cat converter as $19 is looking like a good buy. and will it bolt straight on to my disco. if not what am i expecting to pay for a new one. also does any body know of a good wrecker in sydney.?? I know..i dont ask for much...

yep you need the sensors or your fuel mappings going to goto crud.

Fortunately it should just be a case of getting a welder to bore holes and weld appropriately threaded nuts into the D1 system...

Alternatively just section out the parts from your exhaust and insert them into the D1 system after removing the same size section...

ID do it for ya but sydneys a bit far for me to drag the welder... (and my extention cords aint that long)

The cat converter you dont need but your disco aint road legal without it which is only a problem if you get caught.

    Best o luck

If your pulling out one of the ones that deals with a bank of 4 then you should remove the other one as well (balanced gas flow and pipe lenghts are good things for exhausts IMHO)

The cats dont really restrict the flow that much and if your concerned about it Id spend the dollars to get replacement high flow cats, or at least one good hiflow 3:1 cat to put in after the 2:1 join in the exhausts.. (but Im obligated to say that)

I always thought the rover v8s sounded nicer with a set of 4 2:1's feeding 2 bigger 2:1's extractor style then venting straight out the sides just in front of the rear wheels. But im not supposed to say that..
