    V8i Coolant Inhibitor use.

Since we have had the Discovery we have used Castrol Anti-Boil/Anti-Freeze at the maximum recommendation of 50% mix. (actually it's 55%)

I replaced all the original hoses on Saturday & took the opportunity to get a photo of the aluminium Water Pump outlet. Not really a 100% good image, but I am happy to report the inside of the pipe was like brand new. No sign of corrosion at all, & the surface was as hard as it ever was & nice & shyte & briny.
If the rest of the system is as good as this section then with the right Inhibitor the engine should last another 100 years.

You are a man in a million.
Why is it that veryone in the world NEVER changes their coolant or brake fluid, and is then surprised when the bloody bits fall apart.

Not related, but what's the cable tie on the dizzy coil lead to spark plug lead for??

    Ah, well there's a thing.

I fitted a complete set of leads, but found with the original Dizzy cap, the king lead rubber boot kept slipping up the taper & easing out the brass ferrule.

So, to 'train' it, I tied it between the opposite leads which were quite secure. Was going to remove it eventually, but as it's doing no harm & obviously is doing some good, I decided to leave it there.

The grey coil lead was too short & even going the shortest route was too tight (WTF?) & I requested another that was longer.

Thats usually caused by it being airtight, and the air pressure from forcing it on building up.
When you put it on, bend a bit of coathanger and slip it between the cap and sleeve as you put it on, then remove it, Voila.

    Thanks Phillip.

I did try that little 'wrinkle' (Capt. Mainwaring ) but I'd go back to it & find it had still lifted.

Sterner measure were obviously called for & obviously applied. I considered a RAMSET gun, but thought that might be a tad overkill as well as superglue, dynamite et al.
It sort of looks like it belongs there now. Well, it would, if I had grabbed a black one.
