had same issue...if spraying stops the squeak then it is the belt. Put a new one on and you'll be right.
I have a squeaky belt, I sprayed belt grip on it, this fixed it for two days. I sprayed WD40 this lasted one day. Last night I watched 4WD TV and they showed a Defender with a seized idler pulley somewhere in the desert, so now I am worried.
Does the squealing belt point to a bigger problem or is there an easy fix?

just eyeball them all while the donk is running...
if the idler judders when the aircon is off something is amis...
eyeball the front pully and check the alignment of the belt..
Ive been known to aim a strobe light at it to make the belts movement appear jumpy

Hi, Replace the belt but clean all the pullies with brake cleaner or such like. never use any oil products on the belt its only a short term fix.
I dont recommend people do this but using a file or something abrasive on the belt as the engine is running will usually cure a sqeek( as long as an oil product hasnt been tried first)

another method to check if its a belt or a bearing.....is talcum powder.....
just puff some powder on the belts as the engine is running.....if the noise stops.....its the belt.......
if the noise doesnt go away......then its probably a bearing........
why talcum powder.......it wont harm the belt like oils will........
rubber products come coated in talc to protect them when they are new......
it stops them from perishing.......
