    Slave Cylinder in Exmouth??

    Hi all,

    after bleeding clutch, it seemed all fine. 2 days later clutch fluid was again low and therfore must be a leak. I replaced Master cylinder with the new spare I carried. After installing it, big leaks occured from bell housing drain, therefore must be the slave cylinder (??) Probably the new master cylinder buggered up the slave cylinder completely.

    Can somebody confirm this and if this is the case, any idea how I can get a replacement slave cylinder to Exmouth?? It's Friday afternoon...
    Would love some telephone numbers of companies/people who keep Defender Spare parts in WA.
    Don't really want to drive to Perth without a clutch (although possible...)

    If it is the same as my 110, and I suspect it is, a slave cylinder kit also fits several other cars, and may be available, especially if you can take a sample to a brake specialist or even an auto parts place. A new kit in the old cylinder should get you at least to Perth.

    There is at least a slight chance that the clutch release fork has had it, allowing the piston to come right out - hope not though!

    There are a few mechanical workshops up there ask around at the servo's. Possibly a hone or sand with wet and dry and a new set of rubber cups that should be a standard size that u can purchase.
    I think size wise they are no different to the common holden ford ones?
    This may get u to perth.

    Your in Exmouth right? So whats the problem? There's no need to leave!!!
    Great area, and great fishing up the Ningaloo reef road from Coral bay...

    Ah, It takes me back......


    As suggested, try Stuart at RC on Saturday morning, he will be able to send up the slave cylinder ASAP.


    Meanwhile, have a few beers, enjoy the sunsets and think of how cold it is down here in Tassie at the moment.
