Syntrax (the synthetic transfer case oil) is red.
Syntrans (for gearboxes) is a honey colour.
Guys, quick question...for those that have used Syntrans and Syntrax, what colour is it?
Doing the oil change now, and did the TC first, and noticed the "Syntrax" was red?? I've only ever seen gear oil that is "normal" and ATF that is red, so just want to check. More worrying, a quick look at the receipt and they have put down Syntrans and Transmax Z - the latter being the stuff I assume I've just stuck in the TC - so I don't know if they've got it wrong, or this is just how they had to invoice it...and obviously I can't ring them till Monday!
I'm also assuming that is it is indeed Transmax Z, then being a synthetic ATF I don't want to be driving on this in the TC?

and Transmax Z is green, so it definitely isn't what you've put in your T/Case.
Thanks both - that's a huge relief, as it's a **** of a job with only a little hand pump and no ramps!
I found the bit about Transmax Z being green just before I saw the replies, but was still unerved by the Syntrax being red, as that is usually ATF IME.
That's now all my fluids done, everything except the diffs now on fully synthetic, and with the few k's the car does they should last me a while...
Now for the intercooler tomorrow morning and finish the wiring...![]()

Just been for a quick test drive, and WHAT a difference! Quieter, I think, and with a significantly better gearchange! Best of all, just over 5l of the stuff combined cost less than what Supacheap wanted for 3 litres for Syntrans alone!![]()
