    Doorlocks

Has anyone else had an issue with the doorlocks on the rear doors of a Defender. Mines an 03 and both my rear doors require to be closed 4-5 times before they will latch on or to be pushed hard while closing or they will just bounce open again. I rarely use them but its not convenient for passengers either.

    Cheers

it sounds like the strikers have come loose and have slowly been pushed in towards the centre of the vehicle.......

simply adjust them back out.......i think its an allen key bolt......

I have the same issue with a 2002 defender. All the doors do it in varying stages. I tried to adjust only one of the doors with no success as yet. I thought it might be the locks starting to fail ? I look forward to hearing others experiences.

I only have the problem with the rear passenger doors, I tried to adjust the striker today but they are still the same. Maybe the locks are indeed failing. I took it off road last week and the drivers side rear door opened on its own.

Check that the pin that it latches to has got its plastic covering all the way around it. The bit I'm talking about is the one fixed to the body, not the door bit. When this hard plastic "cover" wears through the doors don't shut properly.

I had the same issue and adjusted them as DefenderZook advised - now they close fine. It's a standard star driver fitting. Also works a treat on the rear door too.
