    Recovery Points Disco II

    Hi all

I looking at upgrading the recovery points on my 00 DII TD5. I saw the bolt on recovery points on the 4x4 discovery website http://www.4x4discovery.com.au/recovery_points.htm

Just wanting to know would welded recovery points be a better advantage over bolt on recovery points in terms of strength?

If you could let me know your thoughts on both pros and cons of each, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Evo

I too am another 00 D2 TD5 owner keen to know more about front recovery points. Especially for use with my standard front bumper that includes the small spoiler.

Back is sorted, You can by a great little unit for use with a big shackle that slips straight into your Reece Hitch.

    Ken post us a photo

Have a look at the pics from Dwellingup you can see it plain as day it simply inserts into the reese hitch where the tow bar usually resides

Speaking of pics wheres the rest of yours from the weekend

The back can be done cheaply with a tongue from another Hayman Reece setup just remove the ball and attach a shackle

The front, well the standard front bar will get destroyed after a decent drive.

Provided the recovery points area secured with rated bolt I cant see that there would be much difference in strenght or durability.

I have the 4x4intelligence front recovery points and am very happy with them...very tough. The last time I got towed (which is too often lately) the tow truck guy was very impressed with them!!

I think these would be easier to fit also than finding someone to weld on heavy duty points.

Correct me if i am wrong but the picture in the website apperers to be using bolts which are not high tesile? As for welding not on your life.!!!! go bolt on
and make shure you use tube inside the chassie to spread the load on the bolt. as for the recovery points in the website they are exellent but fit 2. one on each side and recover with a bridle.

Think you'll find the Troutbeck recovery points are less pricey than the 4x4intelligence ones

Sorry mate but you are wrong. They definately are rated bolts...you can see the marking on the heads.

Plus I certainly made certain they were rated when I fitted mine. Mine were a complete b@stard to fit though as I had bent the wombat bar within which the point mount.
